I’m Back!

Finally got the time to log back in here, but apparently, I’m currently experiencing a writer’s block.

Hopefully can write something while I have a lot of time at hand.

For the meantime, I’ll be browsing the net for some topic that might ignite something inside me.

Ciao!

Why Duterte Still Has My Vote

duterte

Recently, Mayor Rody Duterte of Davao City has been making rounds both on tri-media and social media for, apparently, badmouthing Pope Francis. At first, it left a sour taste in my mouth upon reading the news, as it flooded my Facebook newsfeed, but I had to get deeper on why in the world would he curse the head of the Catholic Church, knowing that the majority of the Filipino people are, yes, Catholics.

What circulated the social media, mostly are transcripts of what he had said. You know how easy it is to get misquoted if your message is just being read (that’s why I hate texting). So, I searched for the full video on the internet, while waiting on the local TV channels for a report about it. The excerpt was taken off of his speech as he was being formally announced as the PDP-Laban’s standard bearer. A lot was said in that speech: him as a person, him as a leader, his past, his programs and platform, and a lot of expletives.

Apparently, what’s being shown on the local news is the same transcript, but this time, Digong, as he is fondly called by his local constituents, is in the flesh saying those words. It can easily be taken out of context if you’re going to take it from that excerpt. But still, the statement is in the bad taste, and he already expressed regret over that remark on the Pope. As he said on an interview, “It was never intended to be directed to the person of His Holiness Pope Francis, who has his utmost respect. It was out of exasperation at the inutility of the functionaries in government not only during that historic visit of Pope Francis but at the daily sufferings of all citizens in Metro Manila up to this moment.” – See more at: http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/546399/news/nation/duterte-expresses-regret-over-remark-on-pope-francis#sthash.sk0D2XuR.dpuf

Though, a bit disappointed, Duterte still has my vote. And here are the same top-ish reasons as to why he is still the best guy for me to lead us:

  • He is not the traditional politician (trapo). Ever since the time that I rooted for Miriam Defensor-Santiago to win the 1992 presidential elections, I have always have the same picture of politicians in my mind. They are all the same, all trapos! They’ll promise heaven, earth and everything in between just to get your vote. They’ll shake hands with the shirtless, they’ll share the only food on your table, and do anything they can think of just to show that they are masa, that they are like you. That they are with you and know what you are going through, though, not. And once seated, they’ll keep their promises to families and friends first, and if there is still enough time on their term, they’ll do an early campaigning to promise you again the same shit they should have prioritized in the first place. Duterte is brute in his words. He’ll tell you that for us to move forward, everyone should do their part. If he gets elected, you must follow his leadership for it to work. He is not into sugar-coating. It’s either you vote for him or not. Simple as that.
  • He is not epal (attention-seeker). After the devastation of typhoon Yolanda in the Visayas region, he was one of the early respondents that extended help to Tacloban, Leyte. The relief goods were printed with words of encouragement and to whom it came from, THE PEOPLE OF DAVAO CITY. He is not a credit-grabber.
  • He is a man of action. Instead of yapping around, blaming people on the alleged laglag-bala scheme in airports, he acted right away and doubled the security of Davao City airport, made himself visible as to assure that there is no place for hullabaloos in his turf.
  • He imposes discipline. Ever since I could vote, I was always rooting for someone who shows toughness and gives regard to discipline. I, myself, can admit it that I need to be disciplined. Ping Lacson always had my vote though he didn’t top the surveys, because he promised discipline. Admit it, Filipinos are not ready for total democracy. We, as a whole, are spoiled brats.
  • Federalism. The current government system that we have, which is centralized in National Capital Region, is just not working. Federalism fits our country perfectly because we are all divided, literally and figuratively.

These are just on the top of my list, but definitely there are more reasons why I pick Duterte over the other presidential aspirants. I know, he is not perfect. I am an explicit type of person, and I understand that a leader should be careful on his words, but that’s just a little thing that can be fixed in a matter of months, if not days, before election comes. If you liked him before, but then changed your mind due to this ‘badmouthing’ incident, then you should do a research on your new candidate. Perhaps, when you chose Duterte before, it was superficial and you just joined the bandwagon. And if you didn’t really liked Duterte even before he decided to join the race, then it’s one more reason for you not to vote for him. Let’s just not force our opinions into others. As much as possible, let’s leave the dirty politicking to the politicians. Anyways, it’s their job.

*UPDATE: My Facebook account is up and active again. Shout out to Ms. Andrea of Facebook Community Operations for handling my case.*

My Facebook account got blocked for the reason of not using my real name. Geez. They are really serious about identification there, huh? The thread between me and Ms. Andrea from Facebook has been long and frustrating that I’m on the brink of just giving up. But five or more years worth of memories will be gone too. All because I failed to take a rule seriously. Pfft.

What to do? Hhmmm…

I think I should get Mr. Phuc Dat Bich’s take on this. He’ll know what to do.

Tic Toc

Closed my eyes to sleep. Last I checked the clock, it was 8:05 on a Tuesday night. As I was entering the borderline between sleep and awake, I felt the bed move. I didn’t want to open my eyes because it is really hard for me to catch z’s, but it’s too late. My mind is wide awake again. As I opened my eyes with a bit of frustration, I saw my wife still lying beside me, eyes half-opened, and seems like she’s gathering her strength to get up, or maybe thinking of a reason not to get up. (Haha!)

Time check, around quarter to 9pm. I told her to get up and eat, so she can prep for work, (she works as a helpdesk in a BPO company near the MOA area, her shift starts at 11pm). She just hugged and kissed me on my neck as a response. Then asked me if I already washed my face. I replied no because I am lazy as f*ck! (Haha!) She got up, took her facial cleanser, then wiped my face clean, as I was pretending to be asleep, (though my mind was screaming, “I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ASLEEP BY NOW!!! AAAARRGGHHH!!!). Then finished my face up with her moisturizer. (How sweet and caring my wife is, noh? 😊)

As I opened my eyes again, she was no longer in the room. The clock says it’s passed 9:20ish pm. Closed my eyes again, trying to relive the glory of almost entering the dream territory. Ugh. I felt her entering the room again after a while, doing her pre-work/lakwatsa rituals. Me? Still. Pretending. Asleep.

Then I noticed that the room became quiet. Eeriely quiet. (Cue cinematic suspense-thriller background music) And then…

Nah! This ain’t a horror story. 😂😂😂

I took a peek around the room and she was no longer there. The nerve! She didn’t even kiss me goodbye! Hmp! (Or maybe, I am just really good in acting out a dead log that she didn’t want to wake me. Ain’t she the sweetest? Hihi!)

I got up. Checked the time on my phone, almost 10. I hurriedly went down the stairs, hoping she haven’t gone far yet. She just got out of our front gate. I followed her but I didn’t go out of the house. I was standing inside the gate, my face planted in between the steel grills while my hands are holding onto it, (jailbird ang peg?!😁). She walked towards our frontgate. I asked her if she left any money for the kids’ baon to school. She said she did, but for the heck of maybe she did not, she handed me a hundred peso bill, then asked me to kiss her while she pecked her lips to mine. With the gate still between us. (Getting the idea of how lazy I am, eh?). Then she went her merry way.

I went back to our room, and yes. She did leave some money. (More for me to spend! Yey!😂😂😂)

Back to our bed. Closed my eyes. Opened it. Tossed. Turned. Changed pillows. Tossed. Turned. It was almost eleven when I decided to just eat. All that tossing and turning made me hungry!

By around half-passed-midnight, I am again lying on our bed. Closed my eyes. Opened it. Tossed. Turned. Changed pillows. Tossed. Turned. Repeat.

At around 1am, the unthinkable happened. No, please. God, why me?! What happened, you ask? Only the most irritable, the most annoying, the mostest of all the most unwanted feeling of all…

RLS. (Or Restless Leg Syndrome. It is really irritable. I think it’s a brain disease because I can trigger it by just thinking that it will happen to me, and it really does. How I wish that also happens when I think about money, and poof! Money! Yey! 😀😀😀) Anyways, try googling RLS if you have nothing to do. It’s real and it can happen to you. (Hala ka! 😂😂😂)

After massaging my left leg down to my toes, RLS was gone and finally, I got to doze off.

zzZZZZ…..

Then…

Alarm clock! Yey! Not yey. Before I fell asleep, the last thing I saw on my phone was 2:27am! Now, it’s 4:30am and it’s time to prep both me and my kids to school.

AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!

No choice. I got up. We got up. Did the morning rituals of a school day and off we go.

Time check. Exactly 4pm. I’m still here at school. In the LIBRARY. AHEM! 😂😂😂 Waiting for my next class scheduled at 4:30pm. My first class started at 7:30am and my last class will end at 7:30pm. Long day for me.

Whew! Hopefully, I can get a full 8-hour sleep later. I hope you do too, and RLS also while you’re at it.

Hahahaha!!!

Peace! ✌

Finally!

IMG_20151124_224804

I have finally found the time to start my own blog. I really have nothing to write or say, as of the moment, because setting this up took most of my mind energy! (Haha! Kala ko technician ka?)

Anyways, hopefully i could find the time and will to write posts about anything my mind gives a sh*t about. Coz you know, I’m lazy as f*ck! Haha!

Seriously though, I’d really wanna make time for this blog. This is one of my frustrations, to be a writer. Anyways, I’m always frustrated. Want me to frustratedly homicide you? Haha! Just kidding!

So, the next post will be some time in the near future. I hope.
